Personality
Jan is a rather charismatic individual, capable of winning the hearts of many to meet her own ends. When it comes to the job, she is all serious. She will gladly ensure her agenda is carried out flawlessly by way of smiles, cash, or a little coercion. Jan usually appears cool and collected; she handles business with an air of professionalism that often goes missing within Rocket headquarters, but, when pressed, she gives way to a short temper and an acidic tongue. She will not hesitate to call out bullshit, a tendency that won her a notorious reputation among her coworkers. She is not a woman to be trifled with.

However, Jan is genuinely kind, even while this side rarely shows through in the office. She was brought up by her mother to respect all Pokémon; this sentiment has grown to the point Jan dislikes Pokémon battles, and will only use her Pokémon out of self-defense, for delivering messages, and for the occasional threat of violence. Although she trusts her Pokémon enough to carry out these tasks, she is not close to either of them and merely sees all Pokémon as business, as a means to an end. Her clinical yet civil regard for Pokémon makes Jan ideal for managing Team Rocket’s acquisition of Pokémon.

History
Jan was raised by her mother in Johto and spent a lot of her time in the lab. Her mother was an esteemed scientist who worked on several projects, and often brought her daughter in to work. Consequently, Jan became desensitized to death as her attachment to the subjects could never last longer than a month.

When Jan turned 5, she was enrolled in private school until she was 10. At the time, Jan wasn’t sure what she wanted to do, as she had zero interest in leaving home like her friends to become Pokémon trainers. However, she did have a love for movies, and dreamed of one day entering the industry to help create them. Jan had a keen interest in becoming a producer, and so gained internships and came to hold jobs in positions of management. Jan’s impressive ambition eventually led her to Team Rocket, though her mother held a certain measure of influence over Jan’s decision to join them. Jan never experienced Team Rocket’s grunt work and instead became a manager almost directly, partly because of her mother’s recommendation and Jan’s own impressive résumé.

Jan quickly became involved in many of Team Rocket’s top secret projects, finding her niche in Pokémon acquisition. Team Rocket was and continues to be in high demand for Pokémon; it is Jan’s job to secure deals and obtain Pokémon through various ways and whatever means necessary. Over the years of her working at Team Rocket, Jan grew a network of sources for acquiring Pokémon. Her connections allow her to move hundreds of Pokémon in a day, all from her little office. She enjoys the work and maintains the job, but still has fantasies of moving to Unova to work at Pokéstar Studios.

Extra:

• Jan has disagreed with how Team Rocket treats Pokémon, but has instead settled on handling Pokémon as professionally as possible within her own trade. She has earned many sneers, but the merchandise always arrives intact.
• On the job, Jan spends most of her time in the Rocket headquarters within an office. On occasion she must take to the field to personally oversee the shipment of Pokémon and deal making.
• Jan has worked both in Team Rocket’s Celadon and Mahogany Town HQs.
• Jan only knows the gist of Pokémon battle. In other words, she’s terrible at it and will only resort to battle if in desperate need. She instead relies on grunts who escort her to her sources.
• Jan’s mother is keen on one of Team Rocket’s top secret projects, which was why she encouraged her daughter to join them to partake in espionage. However, Jan refused to betray any of Team Rocket’s secrets, even to her mother.
• Jan is a huge film buff. Her favorite film is Truth and Ideals.
• Jan is farsighted.
• Googling Jan Aarden results in a flood of pigeons on Images.
• Don’t go for the movie industry, you’ll end up in Team Rocket.

Pokemon

Name: Kafka
Species: Cubone
Gender: Male
Nature: Careful
Description: Kafka serves as a reminder to the Team Rocket Acquisition Team of the incident where a Marowak was brutally killed and its baby was left orphaned. When Jan heard of the story, she sympathized with the species and acquired a Cubone as a gesture towards the fallen Marowak and a silent promise to avoid those practices ever again.
Kafka also doubles as a body guard and brute force, if ever required.

Species: Pidgey
Gender: Male
Nature: Hasty
Description: Athos primarily serves as a mail carrier for Jan. Although the majority of her sources are a text message away, some of them prefer more untraceable methods.

wooo for blocks of text. I've thought over Jan quite a bit because she'll appear in the very distant future in Fire and Ice. _{Very distant.^{most unfortunately}}
I'm pleased with how she turned out! Fun fact, she used to be a white male Caucasian (which should be unsurprising considering my track record).
