Template: RP Comfort Meme Template

Filling out this meme specifically with Beni in mind.

TLDR: I prefer Discord to chat, Google Docs to RP; I'm bad at HCing until I'm more familiar with our characters; I'm bad at descriptions; I'm really slow; I'm a plantser: I like to plot and pants my writing. When it comes to character, though, I prefer to pants it, but don't be afraid to approach me about long-term plot ideas. That sounds amazing.

Even if I'm set to "Do Not Disturb" on Discord, feel free to message me! It's only set that way to prevent notifications from popping up (I check every five minutes anyway).

RP Comfort Meme

Come display your comfort levels so your roleplay partners are aware of what they can do, and of what they should avoid! A healthy relationship between roleplay partners is the key to a good time!
While this meme shows the basics, please remember to communicate with your roleplay partners!

Roleplay Style

I am comfortable with:
  • Adv. Lit/Multi-Para RPs
  • Lit/Para RPs
  • Speed RPs (1-2 Sentences)
  • Script RPs (Chat format)
  • Headcanons
Note: I'm not great at HCing until I'm more familiar with our characters and their relationship dynamic. I might prefer to do the RP rather than purely talk about it, but I'm super rusty in the RP realm so my preferences aren't concrete in this regard.

Post Length

I usually write:
  • One or two sentences
  • One or two paragraphs
  • Two to five paragraphs
  • More than five paragraphs
  • A few pages worth
  • Various lengths
I am comfortable role-playing with people who write:
  • One or two sentences (Sure, if it makes sense for the scene/is Theo lol
  • One or two paragraphs
  • Two to five paragraphs
  • More than five paragraphs
  • A few pages worth
  • Various lengths

Roleplay Speed

I usually reply:
  • ASAP (within minutes) after my partner's post (unless it's a fast-paced RP

  • Within the same month
  • Longer than a month (If this happens slap me with a fish
  • At random/variable times (Probably
I expect my partner to reply:
  • ASAP (within minutes) after I post
  • Within an hour
  • Within the same day (Preferred but not expected, esp. if my butt is being slow
  • Within the same week (If it's more active: every other day, every few days
  • Within the same month
  • Longer than a month (If the RP just isn't grooving, let me know! I'd rather we plot a bit to save it, or mutually drop it rather than get ghosted.
  • At random/variable times (If you're busy or inspiration isn't striking, it's totally okay! Take your time/no pressure on my end, unless there's some kind of deadline to worry about.

RP Partner Etiquette

Roleplay Reminders

I am okay with getting reminders to reply to an RP:
  • When I've mentioned I got something going on IRL
  • When there is a deadline for the RP submission
  • After 5 or 10 or 15 minutes (If it's a quick-paced chat RP, feel free to @ me
  • After an hour (Again, if it's fast-paced @ me, I might have missed the notification or stepped away
  • Within the same day
  • The next day (I'm more than likely working on it, busy, or forgot
  • If I haven't replied in a full week (At this point I've forgotten; please remind me
  • If I haven't replied in more than one week or longer
I tend to remind people to reply to an RP:
  • When there is a deadline for the RP submission
  • After 5 or 10 or 15 minutes
  • After an hour (For short form might poke the person
  • Within the same day
  • The next day
  • If you haven't replied in a full week (Maybe
  • If you haven't replied in more than one week or longer
  • Let me know if/when you would like to be reminded

Roleplay Requests

I like getting requests:
  • From anyone and everyone at any time!
  • When I ask for role-plays
  • If we're in the same RP group
  • From friends and acquaintances
  • From friends only

Corrections

I am comfortable getting corrections when:
  • It's purely grammar or formatting
  • I missed a detail about your post/someone else's post
  • I missed an action or detail about your character or someone else's character
  • It's to help with realism or historical/canon fact
  • Other: Please let me know if you're going to edit my text!
  • Never

Expectations

I expect my RP partner to:
  • Have read my character app before we RP
  • Just know general info, but is not expected to have read the app
  • Read more of my character app as it becomes relevant/necessary
  • NOT read my character app at all before we RP

Romantic Relationships

** Important: Communication is the key to a real life relationship, it shouldn't be abandoned for a fictional on either! Be sure to talk to your partners when considering romance!

Shipping

I am comfortable shipping my characters:
  • Never
  • Our character know each other deeply
  • Our character know each other deeply, and I know I can trust the role-player
  • At the first sign of flirting!
  • Only if the role-player and I plan it
  • It depends on the character
  • If it develops naturally
If you want to ship with my characters:
  • Talk to me about it from the start
  • Talk to me about it once our characters know each other
  • Talk to me about it once they both have some feelings for each other
  • Talk to me about it when they finally decide that want to go beyond hugging
  • Play it by ear and keep to what develops naturally (I'd rather pants this kind of thing; it largely depends on if the characters have chemistry and there's room for the relationship to grow. You can reach out to me about it, but I might not have concrete answers until we actually RP it and figure out if the relationship is working or will work.

Speed

When shipping my characters, I like the romance to happen:
  • Swift as lightning!
  • Fast, but not super fast
  • In about three months
  • At a slow burn
  • If it naturally happens, if ever
  • My relationships know no speed

Smut

When my characters gets intimate, I prefer:
  • To skip the act entirely
  • To write the build up, but skip the act
  • To write the act only if it is very special, but otherwise skip it
  • To write the act all the way through
Honestly: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Just let me know what you're comfortable with and depending on my own comfort levels, we can figure something out.

Romantic Artwork

When it comes to artwork depicting our relationship please:
  • Post cuddles and hugs (all the fluff please
  • Post kisses
  • Other: My only ask is that it's a canon relationship being depicted. Crack art (silly stuff) is fine. Explicit art might not be my cup of tea, but if it's tasteful it should be okay in my books.

Dramatics

** Important: Always be sure to communicate with your partner individually if you think you are about to go outside their comfort zones even just the slightest bit!!

Violence

When it comes to violent situations, I am comfortable with:
  • No violence at all
  • I'm fine with verbal arguments
  • Some violence, like a paper cut, or an accidental elbow to the face
  • Mild violence, such as punching, kicking, hair pulling
  • Violence, such as stabbings
  • Beyond violence, such as torture and more
If you are going to do something violent, please:
  • Don't do it at all.
  • Talk to me about it first
  • Surprise me!
  • Other: If it makes sense for the story being told and it's an in-character action. I also prefer actions be left open so that there's potential to react.

Dramatic Artwork

When it comes to artwork depicting a dramatic or potentially violent scene please:
  • Do not post any violent scenes that that happened between our characters
  • Talk to me about it before posting
  • Post what you like! (Canon depictions preferred, but if we HC'd it that's cool too

Other

Touching

I am okay with my characters being touched if:
  • It's not romantic/sexual
  • It's not violent
  • It's something customary (hand-shaking)
  • You check with me first
  • It depends on the character
  • I don't care, so long as it works within the story

General Artwork

I am fine with art being done of my characters:
  • By anyone, anytime!
  • If I've given permission
  • If it's In Character/Canon
  • Never

Crack/AU

Crack is strictly non-canon RP or HC'ing done for fun.

I'm comfortable with:
  • Crack RPs
  • Crack-shipping
  • General crack silliness
  • Crack art
  • AU RPs
  • AU Headcanons

Art Study Hub

2 min read
Last time I wrote about struggling with art motivation but a good friend of mine, Aerorwen, stepped in to encourage me to draw every day- by creating a group dedicated to art studies! It's an open discord server that has been active for only a couple of days, but already the artists who have joined have done amazing work doing the daily prompts! Aerorwen is striving for a diverse variety of prompts so that everyone has something to pick from and draw- master painting studies to figure drawing, photos, portraits, animals, and landscapes. It's inspired me to see everyone else tackle the prompts, along with the thoughtful feedback everyone contributes!

It's really helped me to pick up the pen and get drawing every day, and I admire Aero for stepping forward and creating a space for artists to improve. If you're at all interested in the group feel free to ask questions, I'd be happy to answer them! And you can also join/check out the server here- discord.gg/gGsDmF4

There is no pressure to do the daily prompts- draw when you feel up to it! Drop by and say hi or simply to check out the server. We're a friendly bunch of nerds :)

With Art Fight over, I'm left wondering what will drive me to create. Since I've been out of school and have failed to find work in the industry, my ambition to create and improve has plummeted. Art Fight helped prop me up again. It fed into my competitive side- it gave me new love for other peoples' characters and drove me to complete art trades. There was satisfaction in making a fleshed out piece for someone else, but then I could sit back and think, "Hey, that doesn't look so bad. Why didn't I make more stuff like this before?"

I doodle plenty, but I can never seem to sit still long enough or have the attention span for an illustration unless there is something more on the line. I simply can't draw for myself and it's frustrating. In school, there were deadlines- you either create or you fail. It kept me working because I wanted that perfect grade (all the while hardcore procrastinating). But in real life, there is no real equivalent to the stakes of a grade. If I stop creating, there is no risk of failing a class that cost an arm and a leg. There's not the satisfaction of not only good marks, but seeing what you've done compared to other classmates. When you're surrounded by talented people, it sparks creativity and creates that drive to improve.

There's a saturation of talented artists everywhere I look nowadays. It's not hard to imagine why I can't find work- there will always be someone better, someone who put more time and effort into their craft to get to where they are today. I do wonder what drives the hobbyist artists- how do you get your ideas, and what drives you to see them to completion? But I think a simpler explanation is to accept I am different from these people, and that I might not be the artist who draws for pure personal merit- not yet, anyway. I remember being enthusiastic about my personal projects during school, but was too inundated with work to create. Now, with all the free time in the world, motivation runs dry.

I feel like I've made a lot of empty promises in these journals, to the point writing about my expectations for the future rings hollow. I wanted to do more studies, bring back my comic, introduce more original art- but a lot of that fell apart. Now, I'm seriously contemplating where to take my art from here, because I definitely don't want to stop now that I've seen what I can do. Literally, that's what Art Fight was- a personal test to see how creative I could be. I managed to impress myself so I think I passed, and I want to keep creating in the same vein. I definitely want to keep doing studies- anatomy, environment, colors, etc. Whenever I see repetition in my work, it chews at me because it looks like canned drawings with a few shiny colors slapped on to make it slightly different. And maybe that's true, for the time being.

So, number one- work on creating variety in my work. Expand my comfort zone so I don't keep drawing the same things. Study, study, study!
Going to start posting studies here: seventx.

Number two- content. I have a Nuzlocke comic but I think it's time I lay it to rest. It's been hanging over my head for awhile, and I love the Nuzlocke community- but I don't think it has an audience and I don't have the drive to make it what I wanted it to be. Maybe it's just me, but there hasn't been as much enthusiasm about Nuzlockes and if I'm not personally enthusiastic either, I think I'd just be putting myself into a corner. So, unless I have a huge burst of inspiration, I will be moving on from Fire and Ice. I just can't let it keep haunting me when I have other projects to look forward to.

These other projects deserve my enthusiasm and attention- I'm working on a game with an awesome team of people and I'd hate to let them down. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to post about it until way down the road when it's ready to see the light, but it's the first time I've worked on something like this. I really hope to see the project through and have a finished game at the end!

Then, there's From the Ashes, an original story I'm co-writing that I've mentioned before. I've shunted it to the side and feel bad about it, but now that there's a void on what I should draw I'll see if I can do more illustrations for it. I have a lot of ideas stewing away and I want to flesh out character designs, too.

Commissions- I want to relaunch commissions with new prices and examples. It's not something I can rely on, but I'll keep experimenting with prices to find something fair.

I think that's enough rambling- I felt the need to sort out my thoughts and I think this helped. Who knows- if I don't post art going forward please, someone, yell at me. I have no self control.
